At times, Lego City Undercover felt a little bit like Breath of the Wild, for its many collectables and “what’s over there?” moments. Once you start unlocking disguises and more of the map, it’s hard not to get sidetracked by the numerous things you can do. It made up for some of my earlier driving exploits. At one point, a character suggests he doesn’t object to unorthodox driving. For instance, I managed to get a recycling truck stuck on the top of a ramp:Īnd it’s hard to resist using the stunt ramps whenever you see them:ĭriving recklessly is fun to say the least. Still, it’s always fun to see what you can do when you feel like messing about a bit. However, if you’re using a vehicle that doesn’t go particularly fast (and sometimes you don’t have a choice in this department) it’s going to be a bumpy ride. It goes up a notch when you’re stealing a vehicle and being pursued by the police. But you can usually find things to do along the way. Occasionally it feels a bit simplistic, particularly when you’re simply driving from one destination to another. Different vehicles have different handling, different top speeds, and sometimes a turbo boost. Or the crashing element, as you can see here.ĭriving is a lot of fun. I tracked down a physical copy of Lego City Undercover and have spent the last few days playing it. I missed out on the Wii U version, so this game is brand new to me.
